It was 2 weeks ago when Danni mysteriously died in the woods. The markings on his neck are burned into my brain. Mum says it looked almost human. The police said it was a bear. My aunt said bears don't make word-like markings in your body. The truck hits a bump and wakes me from my daydream. "Sorry, sweetie," My step-dad says when he sees me jump. Mum smiles at me. "It's alright, Sir" I answer looking out the window. Trees past by. Plots of land look plain without the England buildings. "Welcome to America, Sam," Mum laughs softly. I roll down the window. The thick smelly air eases into the truck. I cough slightly. "Mum, I can hardly breathe," I choke. |
