fantasy of world end

okay so the story starts off with a funeral procession being disrupted by a freak storm and something comes out of the center of a fiery vortex in the sky. the object in question is a blue sphere that's about 2 meters in diameter and at the center there is a boy. there are also pieces of paper that are floating out of the vortex most are charred beyond recognition but the ones that are still intact have phrases like the end of the earth or madman uses monster to destroy city. so i want to know how events led up to him being trapped in the blue sphere and what happened to the earth. also the main character is explaining this all in firsthand and his name is Michael Alexander.
