[Introduction]
This is intended to be the "non-violent" low-conflict Story , I've created three areas for interested players to work with: a house (including surrounding gardens and other areas), a nearby cave, and a small wooded valley up the road. The cave is rather small and so is not intended for exploration as much as it is intended to be put to some use. I've had some ideas for its use myself, but I'd like to leave it open right now for others to be creative with. As for the house, you will see that the description is rather simple and leaves the details of the rooms open for now. I would like for each room to be claimed by a player. As the first 10 players create their characters, they will also be able to detail the interior of one bedroom that will be their room. Each bedroom is fifteen feet by ten feet, with a window facing the outside wall. The bedrooms can be designated as upstairs; Northwest, North East, South West, and South East; and Downstairs;Northwest, North East, South West, South East, and Center North, and Center South AREAS 1. A 10 bedroom Inn type house This house is solidly constructed with logs. The main room features an old hardwood floor, and the kitchen floor is covered with stone tiles. The ceilings are ten feet high. The entrance is in the East and opens up to a large living space. To the West of this living space, on the North and South Sides (Including upstairs), are the bedrooms, 3 on each side Down Stairs, and Two on each side upstairs. Further West, the house empties into a smaller living area, with a spacious kitchen to the South. A back door located at the western side of the North wall leads to a path outside, which forks to travel a short distance to the North West as well as more extensively to the North east. While the stub path to the North West leads to an outhouse, the main track curves to travel parallel to the North side of the house, then heading north. East of this path are seven vegetable garden plots, five feet by five feet each.* Small grass and mulch paths run grid-like between garden plots. Three plots of herbs grow to the North West of the house, West of the Vegetable Gardens, and the main path winds the North Eastern corner to lead back to the front door. Several ancient, gnarled, winding hawthorn trees stand in the front and side yards (south and East of the house), and a stand of huckleberry bushes are rooted in the southwest yard. The west yard is currently wild with hemlock, grasses, ivy, dandelions, and red clover. A large golden willow stands beyond this wild tangle, next to a small stream that flows southward, past the basalt cave, and eventually turning East and flowing down the large small valley, comprised of a lush series of wetlands. To the East of the house rises a hill, cresting at about fifty feet high. The hill is topped with grass, shrubby pines, and hawthorn, as well stands of red clover and huckleberry. Many young apple trees have also been planted on this heath within recent years. The Main Road swerves parallel with the east side of the house. 2. Basalt cave About 500 feet to the South West of the house, a gradual hill of basalt rises up about 150 feet. Formed from lava flow, the basalt hill features an unusual cave at its base. The cave, ten feet high at its highest point, fifteen feet wide, and twenty-five feet long, is a majestic and peaceful place. A person enters through the single opening to find him/her looking around at a perfect spherical cavernous chamber. 3. River Valley About 1500 yards South of the house, the river branches into a small yet lush valley, becoming a sorta boundary to the Hopeford Estates Venturing Line. Alive with Wild Life, and Rich in aquatic life. The story is set in a resource-depleted future, where the United States has fractured. The house described above is located in a remote area of the Pacific Northwest. It is a lone house far from other civilization, yet still can come into contact with them if need be. Those who wish to help out may want to soak in the directions, or reserve a room in the house. Feel free to send me a message as well if you want to work on a building or a surrounding--This may lead to the start of a new settlement, so houses will be a viable thing to discuss. For now just create an interesting dynamic character and have fun. |
