Wonderful poem that links footprints to bits and pieces of our memories over the years.
As we get older, we do leave a mark behind - footprints if you will - and even as they fade away, they'll always linger and be a reminder of what we once were.

Having posed for the stone age hunter
the bison moves on to other fields
other grasses where he can multiply and throng
eventually to shake the earth with his numbers
the thunderous herd in symbiosis
with tribes of hunters doomed like it
to pass in time to history
and endless corn and wheat.
