The second of my collections of poems written for "Express It In Eight."
As usual these days, I choose blog format because it offers more space for the work.

Ottoman

A thing of wonder is the ottoman,
of more warmth and cheer than risotto, man.
Not only can it rest your feet,
it serves at times as a passable seat.
Some come with lids to offer storage,
disguised as a table in the open floorage,
and if to higher things you aspire,
there was a time when it was an empire.
