Wonderful poem that links footprints to bits and pieces of our memories over the years.
As we get older, we do leave a mark behind - footprints if you will - and even as they fade away, they'll always linger and be a reminder of what we once were.

Like tourists disgorged from a sparkling bus,
a herd of nutcases on day release
from some far away sanatorium,
wrinkled, troubled faces chattering in confusion,
they spill in tanned and serious array,
avid to gawk in architectural wonder,
filling the space with meaningless noise,
only to leave again in united incomprehension.
