Welcome and great that you found your way to my blog!

My name is Evie and I write books that take readers out of their own worlds and into new ones that readers won't soon forget. I blog for artists, writers, creatives, multi-talents and all those who want to become one.
In life, you don't need to be rich: Joy, curiosity and commitment are enough to reach your goal. Just like I am doing right now.

In this blog, I'll give you tips on how to finish the monster "book project“. I'll also give you tips on how to find motivation to write (daily?) and how to incorporate it into your everyday life.
You can also expect some prompts, ideas and step-by-step instructions here.

I noticed a small type in this line: "Don’t forget thinks like cell phones...." Admittedly, it made me pause at that section long enough to think about the inclusion of technology as a part of setting.

One thing I had to consider in writing my reimagination of A Midsummer Night's Dream. My version takes place in 2007. Cell phones were fairly common, but the smartphone had just begun its journey into the wider world. Thus, I had to think about how someone could take a picture in a night club in 2007. Some cell phones had cameras, but their performance in a dark room would be abysmal at best. I ended up having one of the characters take a gamble on using their cell phone as a camera, something that fit in with the whole notion of the cops as the 21st century equivalent of mechanicals/players bumbling their way through an assignment.

Later on, I would end up seeing The Big Short, a story set in roughly the same time period. After I saw the movie, I read an article discussing the props. Apparently the props department spent a lot of time tracking down the correct models of flip phones for the characters to have in their possession. Considering how often dialogue occurred in the middle of phone calls, that was one detail the props team could not skimp on, and to me it really sold the whole movie. (As someone in Miami during the 2005-2007 period and actually overhearing some of the real estate conversations while I was wandering around the area as a student, I can vouch for The Big Short doing a good job of recreating pretty much everything about Miami from that time.)

When I'm in need of plots, subplots, plot twists, and other such things, I go to the Adoption Society threads on the NaNoWriMo website. They host tons of ideas that other people post and are free for us to adopt and change as we need. Because no 2 plots are ever executed the same, unlimited people can adopt a plot and you can adopt unlimited plots, even if you never get around to doing anything with them.

It's my favorite section of WdC!
