Notes: As a teenager, I read the novel, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, by Hannah Green (real name Joanne Greenberg). I have forgotten most of it, but one enduring image has stayed with me ever since. This is Anterrabae, the falling god, a product of the protagonist’s imagination. I renamed him for my own purposes and mainly because I couldn’t remember his original name. The prompt reminded me so powerfully of Green’s strange creation that I could only write of my own version of the falling god.
