Modern mediocrity oozes in the very bowels of this country's political, moral, social, psychological, spiritual structures. The banality of it all, the food we eat, is neither very good nor very bad. We do not know how food looks when it is fresh or even coming from the farm. Many of us cannot prepare a meal without pre-processed items. Fast food takes bland to a whole new depths. The clothing we wear is cookie-cutter (literally), generic please, in size XXXXL. Little ants moving to and fro working in dead-end jobs, doing dead-end work. We live in boxes with amenities that make us feel like we are getting ahead... internet, phones, gaming consoles, houses that practically clean themselves with the whisk of an electric broom and duster. We do not struggle for anything, we think we do, but the meaning of life escapes us. Even spirituality is watered down. Religious extremes victimize those who have less aggressive stances on spirituality. Those who perceive this dimly, know no way to combat it or alter the path we are taking. Environmentally, we are on a dying planet that doesn't know it is dead yet. I see no way to revise our society. Each country has its own internal conflicts and problems that lead in the same direction. The tiny minority of wealth vs the vast majority of poverty and destitution keeps the world directed toward self-annihilation.

Their midnight beauty goes unstated
The trouble was what we awaited
We realized the mischief they could bring
When it arrived it was such a thing

A lovely cheesecake I meant to bake
in lonely splendor there sat the cake
for a moment I did turn away
that day my cake became the prey

Those beastly dogs, they pulled it down
I hadn't realized they were around
Unfortunately, I made a mistake
for behind my back, they did partake

One of the stories on here triggered a funny (NOW) memory, but at the time it wasn't so funny. I think I'll write about the two dogs.
