Happy Mother's Day! PROMPT May 9th Write about language - What languages do you wish you could speak? What’s the most pleasant sounding accent? What’s the funniest word in the English language (or your native language)? English is my native language. I never gave the funniest word much thought. We could use the Mary Poppins word, but I really don't even want to try to spell all that out. Here is a good one for us writers, onomatopoeia. When I was a kid in school and we first learned about this word, a few of us kids got into trouble for making fun of the word. Lol We came up with a few different ways to make fun of it as you can only imagine. What is an interesting language is medical terminology. That has got some doozies in it. If you ever get a chance, take a glance at a medical dictionary, you will see what I mean. I have learned a few Spanish words. I don't know enough to carry on a full conversation, but am able to pick up on certain words as I hear people talking. I wish I could speak it better. I guess I should start trying to learn more Spanish words. I wish I knew Greek, Hebrew, and Latin to get a better understanding of the Bible and related literature. It would be interesting to be able to read it in its original language. I have always liked hearing the Australian accent. It is very similar to the English accent. A French accent may be a close second favorite. If I had to listen to a language with no interpreter, the Japanese language is interesting to listen to. My roommate and I used to watch the Ninja Warriors competitions before they had an American Ninja Warrior show. I always found that interesting and kind of comical to listen to as you could hear the changing emotions in the commentator’s voice. |
