Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Proverbs 3:9-10 9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. Some people believe these two verses have to do with tithing. What are your thoughts? What do you think about tithing? Answer: I personally have mixed feelings on this subject of tithing. I believe there are a lot of pastors and institutions who use tithing as a means of selfish gain. On the other hand, I do feel we should regularly and faithfully give back to God. These verses to me are saying that if we honor the Lord first with everything we gain, we will be blessed abundantly. I think I will choose to leave it open for interpretation to the reader how they intend to honor God first with all they gain. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PROMPT May 21st Write an open letter to a person or group of people you strongly disagree with and explain why. Use reason not emotion. Maybe this will be therapeutic. I considered not doing this because I don't like to focus on the negative, but then a specific person reminded me today that I really don't like them. If Will Rogers had met and got to know this person, I would say he would have found a man he would not like. If anyone does like this man, there is something seriously wrong with them. I have had my belly full of this person. If it were left up to me alone, I would completely disassociate myself with them. However, they happen to be related to someone who is very important to me so I continue to look the other way as much as I can. But I don't know how much longer I can sit quietly by and not say anything. This might be a long one guys, but you asked for it. On second thought, maybe I should keep this to myself because I am very angry about and at this person right now. Even though he disgusts me, I shouldn’t talk bad about him. Grrr! I need to find some balance here. In Psalms, David prayed curses upon the wicked and upon his enemies, but I don't know where to draw the line here. I would say this person is extremely deceitfully wicked. He causes more harm than good even to his own family. I can't hardly stand it. I am really trying to control myself, but this is one of those people that make you feel homicidal. He is someone who is living because murder is against the law and I am sure I am not the only one feeling that way. Now I hope nothing happens to him because I said that. Lol For the record, I didn't say I intend to follow through. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Observations: Verse 16- If they despise me, they despise Jesus. If they despise Jesus, they despise God the Father. Verse 17- The 70 disciples he sent out were excited that the devils listened to them and they were able to cast them out. Verse 18- Jesus was there in person when Satan was cast out of heaven, proving his pre-existence. Verse 19- Jesus gave them power over these things and more. Verse 20- Jesus told them not to rejoice that the spirits were obedient to them, but that they were saved. Application: We have power over evil spirits when we are saved, but we should rejoice in the fact that we are saved not in the fact that we have power over spirits. Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Thanks for saving us. Thank you for your deliverance from evil. If so, have you accomplished what you predicted. If you haven't do you feel this might make you more accountable? I tried to write one once but never finished it. I have issues. . What does your heart tell you? My heart can tell me many things. Do I trust it 100%? No, the Bible says it is deceitful above all things. Who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9) Also, if you want to know what is in your heart, listen to what comes from your mouth. (Matthew 15:18) Yet, so often, we are told to follow our heart. I say if you are going to follow your heart, you had better make sure your brain is with you all the way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Name a fictional character or monster you would love to have as a friend. Why do you think they would be a good friend to you? I absolutely love Baloo. We have similar personalities I think. We look for the bare necessities of life. Lol I also love Tweety. These are my Two most favorite cartoon characters. Of course, Scooby-Doo is in close competition and Bugs Bunny too.
