Thank you! It has been a long time coming for us! We were almost afraid it wouldn't ever happen. We always seemed to be a step behind the housing market (and the rental market for that matter lol). Going from a 660 sqft apartment to our house has been the best thing in my life lately! It still feels like a dream some days.

It sad how very little we know about the brain and how it works, other than the extreme basics (electricity! and salts!). It would be interesting how somethings affect it while others don't. How some people we don't really think about enter our dreams but those we love and cherish don't (unless there are tragic, traumatic, or other extreme reasons). At least with my experience in my dreams. I think that it is interesting how some people see dreams in color and some don't (I do and just assumed everyone did!). Some hear sounds in their dreams and some don't. And then there are some who dream and those who do not. My mom said that she used to and when I had gotten older she told me that she didn't dream anymore, but that she'd heard we dream every night, so she assumed maybe she just didn't remember dreaming (She did have a dream when I was like 12~ years old when her sister's husband passed away and she went to stay with her for the weekend, she thought she was awake and had heard me call for her, but didn't see me and assumed it was one of her nieces calling for her mom and her sister had just gone to sleep and didn't want to wake her so she didn't say anything. Come to find out it wasn't either of them and she wondered if she just dreampt it, even though it seemed like she was awake at the time. I always thought that was interesting).

You did have some very interesting dreams. I kind of waver between wondering if our dreams are the playthings of our subconscious or they do bring something to attention due to our and everything else's connection in the creation. Maybe someday, we'll get to know the truth.

I think this year has messed everyone up with Covid. Everyone in my house got it, some were asymptomatic, some of us got hit bad. I've had lingering effects now that just makes it so hard to write. Now where I live, we went into complete lockdown last week, the first province in Manitoba to do it for this second wave, and it just so rejecting, but you got to do what you got to do. Keep on trying to write, it will come back to you, you were always an amazing writer.

Yeah, this year has been pretty much a wreck. I have ideas, but no energy or motivation to write beyond blogging. But that's not related to the pandemic for me. University completely sapped my creativity. Too much times spent studying, writing papers, working with spreadsheets, etc.

I thought I'd be able to get my creative writing flow back being at work this year, but then the pandemic happened and even though I'm working from home, I feel totally suffocated after months of just sitting inside. Definitely cabin fever vibes that aren't conducive for motivation.

It does sound like Matt, and likely you too, could've had covid at the beginning of the year. It has pretty much been established that it was widespread by that time, but testing wasn't really a thing then.

I hope you'll find some way to write. I know it sucks to have ideas and not be able to get them out.

- I've always loved mythology too! It's been fun to use them in a fun way. I can't wait to get to where I can actually begin writing and implement them! I'm hoping it comes out as good as I have in my head.

What a fine mess

Prompt: "Fine Mess"
Oliver Hardy often said to Stan Laurel in several Laurel and Hardy films, "This is another fine mess you've gotten us into." What is your definition of a fine mess and what kind of images does the word mess bring into your mind?

Fine mess always felt like "helluva mess" to me. A nice hint of sarcasm. Especially in movies where it always felt like this "fine mess" was what the adventure of the movie was based on. Now it begins. I feel like it works in real life too. Fine always kind of implied "now this is a real specimen of a mess", "a good example of a mess" instead of a regular mess that you had to deal one. One that meant there wouldn't really be an easy solution or quick clean up of said mess.

I've seen people be called a fine mess too, implying that it's going to be a lot of work to clean them up (hair and clothes, make-up if necessary). Something I often call myself (aside from a swamp witch). Along with being a hot mess (probably my favorite tbh).

In general, I always felt like it was a lighthearted way of describing something..or someone, can be some work without being mean or rude about it and make the person or persons not feel as bad. Or, like me, using it for themselves. I like that using a fine mess (or hot mess) has a nice flexible connotation as well, meaning maybe a metaphorical connotation instead of a literal one. One of my favorite things about the English language (and the pity I have for those trying to learn our language) is how flexible it can be.
