This is where I write my thoughts, feelings and my daily trials, tribulations and happy things

PROMPT May 17th “Nothing of me is original. I am the combined effort of everyone I’ve ever known.” — Chuck Palahniuk Read this article and share your thoughts about how the people in your life have had an impact on you. “They’ve all helped me grow, become more resilient, and many supporting me when I most needed it. I’ve learned, matured, and became wiser thanks to my interactions with them.” It certainly is an interesting concept to consider. What sort of person would I be if I grew up in a different family, culture or country. Who knows? But surely we aren’t born purely to be moulded, we must have some free will. I actually don’t feel as if anyone has had such an impact on me that I’ve been turned into the person I am now. Moving to another country at the age of 28 probably had the most impact on me. It was if I was marking time in England waiting to be able to be myself, the person who I was meant to be. Funnily enough I never felt at home until we emigrated. Because we still lived so close to our families it was if we were being smothered. I always encouraged our children to leave home, to be independent from a young age. Each of them returned to the nest for different reasons for various lengths of time. I realise now on reflection how much I value my own independence despite being the youngest child the only girl, and probably was a bit spoiled. Even though I married young and had three children, I have always looked forward to having my own space. I don’t know who inspired or influenced me to feel like that. I think I’m just me. I am original. |
