Show don't tell, Du Fu is a master. Something I too have to work on. Thank you for sharing this. I forgot how much I loved reading some of these ancient poems.
that allows only 22 syllables but specifies it must be words of wisdom. I just naturally fell into the "miserable valley" of Du Fu's poem, that is such a great image. So reading this poem is perfect timing and a challenge to step up my game.
It sucks when life doesn't play out the way we thought it would or the way we dreamed it would. I'm right there with you, except I'm not divorced. My life hasn't played out the way I think I wanted it to, but I'm pretty happy. It could be better but it could be worse, too.
What a great gift you gave to your kids. I get the impression that too many folks are afraid of life and withdraw into their own shells for protection. Not only should you not be afraid of life, but you should also fight against those who tell you that life is frightening and only they can save you. They are charlatans!
