We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life.
โ€œThere are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .โ€

โ€œOur anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.โ€

โ€œHope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.โ€

โ€œIf sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.โ€

"One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after;
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion:
in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me;
he shall set me up upon a rock.

And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me:
therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy;
I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.
"
(Psalm 27:4-6, KJV)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The deepest thing within my heart,
the thing I'll always seek to find,
is that the Lord will from the start
permit me live with Him so kind.

I'd dwell in the House of the Lord, today,
to behold His Beauty, and to ask,
"May I just worship, daily say,
Your Grace is giv'n beyond my task."

For in great trouble's wearisome time
He hides me in His safe, safe place.
The secret of His tent sublime
He hides me on a rock apace.

And now my head on high is lift
above my foes, who 'round me stand.
My joy is offered for His Gift.
I sing great praises for His Plan.

He came to save my sinful soul,
so wretched in my stains and dross.
The third day stood to make me whole,
enforcing payment on His cross.

His Father gave me as a gift
to His Lone Son, a trophy rare.
Forever debt and payment shift
would make me His without a care.
(John 6:37, KJV)
