30 Day Blogging Challenge Prompt 4

I first came here by chance nearly 17 years ago, when it was still stories.com. My oldest daughter was six months old and I had been struggling with postpartum psychosis. On the advice of my doctor, I had begun journaling. I was searching for a place where I could share my ramblings and maybe connect with someone like me. Over the years, I've been active and inactive as life kept throwing me curve balls. Last year, I told myself it was time to get serious. If I really want to write, then I need to write. My kids are older now and I find myself restless. Writing soothes my soul. It calms the chaos in my head. I'm working on a poetry book. I don't want fame and fortune (okay, I do, but I'm a realist), but I want to see my poems in print. I want to give them to the kids to show their kids. I want them to know that there's more to me than wife, mom, and teacher. I don't have much of a life outside my family and home, but I can come here and connect with people. I'm slowly coming out of my shell and learning more about myself. Hopefully, I'll still be around to get my 30-year anniversary badge.
