30 Day Blogging Challenge Prompt 14

Picture it....Dallas, Texas....the year...1980-something

My best friend's cousin came from South Carolina to spend the summer with her family. The first thing I noticed was his eyes. I had never seen such an electrifying shade of blue. He spoke with more of a slow drawl than I was used to hearing, which intrigued me even more. I was eight years old and proclaimed that I kiss him one day. I spent the summer following him around and asking questions about living on the beach. He patiently answered each and every one. When summer came to an end, I cried my little heart out. Of course, I forgot about him a week after he left. Until the next summer, when he returned. I didn't get a kiss that summer either, but he did bring seashells. By the third summer, I was 11. We held hands that year. I finally got my kiss on the fourth trip. It was the grossest thing I had ever experienced. He tried to put his tongue in my mouth! That did it. I happily spent the next two seasons away at camp. The next time I saw him was Thanksgiving at the age of 15. He only stayed two weeks, but I had discovered how much I enjoyed kissing after all. We snuck away at every opportunity. After that, Spring Break and stolen hours kissing. I was 16 and he was approaching 18. My heart broke when he told me he was enlisting in the military and I wouldn't see him for a long time. But we had a damn good time kissing goodbye.
