Presley Acuna's Writing Journal/Blog |
Hello World. |
9/11 Ruminations Posted a couple of pieces centered around that day. I was working on Wall St. at the time. Sorry - thought I had blogged about it on the actual day. Just noticing that entry disappeared. -PA |
And last but not least, I have a political satire novella coming out next week on Amazon and Kindle about a fictional Trump Presidency. It's title Trumpicana Vol 1. Jason Seiler, world renowned illustrator and caricaturist, agreed to do our cover art and the final product looks great! It's also a delicious read! 100% Fresh Squeezed Satire! -PA |
I also have a full length, ApocalypticThriller published, available on Amazon and Kindle, which is getting great reviews, if you want to have a try at my full length fiction. It's quite the thinking man's page turner. Here's the review, from BestThrillers.com: http://bestthrillers.com/book-review-the-day-and-the-hour-a-new-apocalypse-thril... If you do decide to pick up a copy, please leave a review on Amazon! https://www.amazon.com/Day-Hour-Presley-Acuna/dp/0692576959/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_prod... -PA |
Just posted a children's story I wrote some time back about riding the trains in NYC. It's based on my own childhood and my imaginings during those years, as I rode the strange and magical tunnels, deep beneath the city. I have a portfolio of original illustrations intended to accompany the story, but haven't figure out how to post those just yet. I did post the cover illustration however. This was an exercise in stretching my style-chops, as I explore my writing breadth. I hope you enjoy it. Imagine it as a bedtime story you might read to your own children. PA |
Just added a third example of my work to my portfolio. It's called "Pressing the Flesh" and it's about an interview gone wrong in a most disturbing way. The idea is derived from my experiences as a techie working on Wall Street, many many moons ago. Hope you like it! -Presley |
Just posted another short of mine. I've been playing around with various genres. This one is a rocknroll road trip kind of story. Aspiring New York surf band, The Fabulous Surf Aces, agree to play a gig on Long Island, but it doesn't quite play out as expected. From my work-in-progress RocknRoll novel, "The Adventures of The Fabulous Surf Aces". Hope you like! -Presley |
It's my first time posting my fiction in a public forum like this and it's been rewarding. So far, positive reactions to my tale of haunted houses, which encourages me to venture more postings. I'm developing several short stories in preparation for the eventual publication of a collection. I'll probably post a couple more but keep the powder dry for the published version, which will include around 8 stories, including a children's story about an unusual subway station! Readers comments about the Promontory have been intriguing and illuminating. Words have power and sometimes wield their magic in unexpected, even unintended ways... |
Just starting out here. I'm a reclusive writer - never been to a workshop, for example. I have been mostly reliant on books about writing for my education, and of course the actual act of writing, for practice. I have used editors and critics to help hone my work and it has helped immensely. No man is an island and I do not operate in a total vacuum. But with the recent publication of my first full length novel, "The Day and The Hour", I am stepping out into the light a bit more. And so, here I am! I've posted a short story in 7 chapters, titled, "The Promontory" here in the free reads section of Writing.com. Check it out. Let me know what you think. Oh, and yeah, "The Day and The Hour" is here: http://amzn.to/230RAaU -PA |
