"Prompt: In Ruth chapter one, Naomi tells her daughters-in-law to go back to their country and gods. What do you think this tells us about the condition of her heart towards God?" I can see what the prompt is driving at. The prompt wants us to say that Naomi did not really trust in or belive in God. This however was not the case. Later scriptures show us that Naomi had faith. The scripture here is Naomi trying to protect her daughter's in law. If they went back to their countries they would be accepted citizens with a future and security. If they followed Naomi they became the lowest ranking slaves. Even slaves had ranks. Slaves born in a country had more standing than outsiders. Ruth was an outsider, She was also a woman. Basically by legal standards she was worse than a slave if she stayed with Naomi. In Moab she was a citizen. Naomi wanted her to be a citizen, not a bottom rung slave. Prompt: "Today, traveling through cyberspace with Data and Worf, we found a star. Whitney writes
, an encouraging message to a friend. Write about this in your blog." "I resemble that remark!" We used to say that in 12 step programs when somebody brought up a discussion topics that forced us to think. I have been struggling with my narcolepsy for the past two days. I have not had my morning mocha yet so my brain is in a fog. Now I have to try to think? lol Seriously, if a friend is in crisis, we need to be there for them. We need to discuss the crisis with them and figure out how to fix it or at least make it bearable. This poem is about a friend whom the author tries to console during a crisis. The author does all the right things. |
