A Journal to impart knowledge and facts
July 22, 2015

I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

Write a letter to your younger self. Tell them about something or someone they should be wary of as they move through life and about a specific event they should look forward to.

signature dancing owl *FlowerB*

LETTER

Dear Self:

How do I warn you about the events that started all the turning points. The problems seem to have started with WWII. I have to say that war went a long way toward messing up more than one family. And, I was not born until January, 1945 so events that rolled along were already put into place before I was old enough to fight back. Believe it or not, my mother who died when I was 6 prepared me to look for help from the Lord. She taught me to love music, read, and pray. So, stick with that plan and you will be on track.

There is an event and a person you should be wary of. Your father is going to invite a family of friends to stay with your family for a time. You should be wary of the mother of that family. She does not have your best interests in her heart. I don't know her history, but I believe she did not like your mother. She invited some female cousins to a play date with you and designed the play date to be one of the most disasterous meetings of your life. No play was intended.

Also, if you can remember address more questions to your paternal grandmother. She wanted to share more in-depth information about family problems, but was afraid to speak as openly as she needed. Two uncles also tried to warn you without speaking plainly of events and people, that had been orchestrated to be stumbling blocks in your life. Yes, even the people has been led to believe they were doing a service as stumbling blocks.

Look forward to and be glad for the people who actually knew how innocence can be corrupted and did not count deliberate ignorance, that was also orchestrated, as the way to treat youth.

As an elder i look forward to meeting people in the heavenly after life who knew the stumbling blocks, could not openly warn me, but guided me around some of them with helpful actions.

Read and study indepth scripture early in life. Turn the mockers away with steadfast learning and never be afraid to walk a different direction than the crowd is walking.

Actually, there is not any way to do it over. Just trust in the Holy God, that told it right and is with us always, sees everything we do, hears every word we speak, knows which words are just nothing and which ones are heartfelt. Smiles when we shout about unbelief, while walking ahead of us and removing some of the debrie in the path of life.

After the warnings comes the part to look forward to. Everytime you uncover the people who misdirect you in life and lay the guilt at their feet where it belongs, instead of on your own heart, you will be relieved of lifes long standing weight. Only carry the wieght of life, that you may have decided to lift on your own. You may not even like some of your own decisions, but that does not mean they were done with malice to others. Time is essential to building a path of life. Try to use it wisely.

God Bless You self,
Sincerely, Apondia *Butterfly2B*

WRONG BIRDS! *Bird*

Lost my internet connection on computer. Wifi gizmo blew up?? Will have another one soon. In the meantime I have hijacked Keith's computer to get back to *WDC* .

This week, Wednesday, I was sitting in my room playing Township on my kindle when a starling suddenly flew over head. Now the door on the room was shut. I can only imagine it crawled through a crack on the balcony. There is a cat door onto the balcony from my room. It must have flown through the cat door, with cats in pursuit. Cats watched while it banged itself against room windows. I carefully put each cat in a cat kennel, opened a window, storm windows and screens then it kindly flew away. Still for a few minutes I was stunned because it was a stupid bird to attack the house that way. Plus, the last week I have had to release several, all starlings from the back porch. There is one out there right now banging its head against the porch windows. I released one this morning already when I went to the barn. Makes the dog bark and growl too. I can't imagine what is attracting so many to the house this week. They are all young ones. Not fully mature birds yet. Maybe arrived from the South this week. Lots of summer birds arriving daily. Yes. When I first saw the bird I starred for a moment, mouth open, mind yelling what to do?

Never a dull moment here even so we are sequestered until further notice.

Did the census online this morning. So glad we still have wifi and tech.

HAPPY TRAILS EVERYONE KEEP SAFE AND WELL. *FlowerP*

If you had the opportunity to compete on a television game show, which would you pick? If you won, what would you do with your winnings?

GAMESHOW?

I'd rather be the host than the contestant. I like Wheel of Fortune. I can guess a lot of the words. But, that's from my seat in my living room. Add the audience watching the lights and cameras and I would probably have freeze brain. I would like running the studio cameras though.

Any large sum of money coming in here depending on its size would go to my school loan or the mortgage. Either of those coming to an end will make life more plentiful.

What are some ways you reduce stress and create happiness in your everyday life?

WAYS TO WEAR LIFE

*Rolling* Screaming helps if its done in a controlled environment. It reduces the stress momentarily.

Seriously, I guess reducing stress is a case of knowing what is necessary to get done and do it. For instance if you know a bill is due and can pay it just get it done on time. Don't run up bills you can't pay. I can live with a worn out pair of boots better than I can with people telling me I bought something I shouldn't. Although, when they jumped on me for buying to many groceries when I had 4 children to raise, I began to see there was something wrong with the people meddling in my life, not something wrong with me.

Neutrality in relationships between me and relatives who thought everything I did was wrong came very slowly to me in life. I had a couple mental burnouts before I told the world to go hang and got on with my life. The thing is I had to find my own solutions to problems no matter how little knowledge I may have. And, lots of bad decisions made by anyone often come from lack of knowledge in the first place.

Now I play the music I like. Read a lot and learn everything I can about any subject that interests me. I use mindfulness, exercise, and yoga to reduce stress and keep healthy. As My children grew up I watched the same people do pretty much the same kind of things to my kids. And, now we have the information age and the internet. Keith reads me the funny things he finds on Facebook. Lots of laughter here.

Still Keith and I sit and watch the news and we have lots of questions that a good media should be telling to the public but are not. First they hype up the illness as though a type of corona has never been around before. Not so.

The common cold is caused by a corona virus, OC43 AND 229E. Virus antibodies do not last long in the body so you can catch a cold over and over. That is why there is a need for a vaccine. A properly built vaccine is going to give you immunity for a longer period of time.

Most cases are mild but this is not stressed in the news. Covid-19 was first identified in the USA in the 1960's, Whether it was true or not a doctor told me when I was in my 20's, that there is a vaccine for the common cold, but it is illegal to use it because getting a cold once in awhile can actually aid the body to build a better immune system.

Another thing that is bothering me about the news is the lack of telling people how to begin treatment if you are feeling ill. The simple things still help, rest, do not over exert yourself, avoid areas that are bad for respiration such as smoke, take over the counter meds for pain or fever, and possibly use a cool mist vaporizer. If necessary notify your health care worker for advice. Stay home.

Information about what a virus is:https://www.nature.com/scitable/definition/virus-308/ The covid-19 is attacking cells aggressively. Which creates the need for cautious enterprise to slow it down. It does not stay alive on the surface of anything so buying things shipped from other areas such as China should not be a problem. It has to invade a human cell to spread.

What is your favorite childhood memory? Does anything make you feel nostalgic?

MEMORY

I don't think I have a favorite. Just a lot of them. Memories of my mother are good ones. Since she died so early in my life.

Memories of my life with horses also good, keep me exercising and up to date with who I am.

Memories of many pets in my life who added love to the mix when I needed it. All good memories.

Memories of people I loved who have passed away and how they went out of their way to tell me things they thought I should know before they left the earth. People with goodness in their hearts.

I'm still creating good memories as I go along. Funny as I write this and look backwards I don't seem to have any memories that don't involve something special that helped me live this life.

Other than music, what sounds do you love?

signature dancing owl *DragonflyO*

SOUNDS

I love the sounds of summer birds as the sun comes up in the morning. I love the sounds outside that change and become noisy when the birds return in the spring.

I love the sounds of the Bullfrogs on the Beaver Dam in the woods behind the house at Midnight.

I love it when geese fly over the house and yard; I yell a greeting and they honk back.

I love the sound of the earth as it turns under our feet.

And, the sound of the hay baler as it churns out the bales. The sounds people make when stacking and throwing bales into place in the barn. There is always a lot of chatter about the effort and how the machinery was working and chatter about miscellaneous life that goes on while the bales are being stacked. The sounds of people working.

I love the silence of a library when people are sitting around reading or browsing books. Silence is its own sound in different places at different times. The silence of a cold winter night when stars are shining is awesome.

The sounds that the cats make when they are sliding on the throw rugs just for the fun of it.

The greeting whinny of the pony when I show up to do chores.

The murmuring hum of happy people talking at a church dinner.

Life, I love the sounds of daily life on our planet.

We should be playing this song daily.

Do you consider yourself a patient person? How easy or difficult is it for you to wait for something? Does a delayed reward feel more or less satisfying than an immediate reward?

Fairy playing a flute *Cat*

PATIENCE

I'm not sure if what I do is patience?

Definition from Google:noun
noun: patience:
" the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset."

Quote:

Have patience with all things, But, first of all with yourself.

Saint Francis de Sales ( https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/saint_francis_de_sales_193306)

It just depends on the situation. Most of the time I don't get upset quickly. Sometimes I vent, loudly. Lately, I don't have much patience because people are meddling in my private life now. It's unfortunate but, I believe Keith pushes friends to help him when he wants to do something he should not. That leaves me out on a limb swaying in the breeze. No one to call, no one to tell, no one to stand with me or give helpful advice. Just me. However, this relationship is over 40 years in the making. So, I think one day at a time will suffice.

We get phone calls almost daily asking us to just press one or just press two. Sometimes they are hang up calls filled with silence, even if you answer. (we have a home phone) Last week someone called here and said I put my name on a website that said I needed better health insurance. When I told him I have good health insurance and was not interested and I did not put my name on any websites, he hung up. The same person called back and told me my name was on the list from the health website he represented and I should just press one to remove it or I could go to the website (which he did not name) and remove it if I did not want them to continue to call me. Or they would just continue to call regularly. He put this on the answering machine because I would not pick up on the call.

This week someone called when I was in the barn catching up the barn cleaning since the weather turned better and the snow disappeared. Anyway, this person was from New York and talked to Keith. He told Keith he could get him $10,000 worth of free life insurance. (Keith knows we have life Insurance but, we get constant calls from people selling life insurance.) So, Keith makes an appointment for this man to come to the house? I was not patient and I'm not sorry. I yelled. Keith called some number and supposedly canceled the appointment. The guy showed up anyway, wearing blue jeans with a shirt tail half out, said his son had his phone and deleted the messages. Tried to get info out of Keith about finances. Went back to his car, 100 yd to the road and sat there for about 20 minutes before he left. Big fancy black sedan of some sort.

Keith laughs about this kind of thing. Keith takes 4 or 5 kinds of meds. He has High blood pressure, sugar diabetes, takes something for his stomach and recently went on a thyroid med. Am I patient? Yes! And still, I pray for the Lord to keep me calm in the face of stupidity. *Laugh* I work hard to keep us financially solvent and clean living. (right now the floors on the main floor need vacuumed.)

We are aging so we are targets. Unfortunately, I wish we could delete the house phone. But, Keith's mother worked for the telephone company for years so he is loyal to the phone plus, I think he likes the excitement that is generated from the calls. Now he has Facebook.???

In the 90's some girls called here and were leaving messages on the phone that they were going to kill me? Called the police and turned the message tape over to them. Then we had to pay the phone company and the state police to tap the phone. Police caught two teenage girls but would not charge them because they said it would ruin their lives to have a record for threatening phone calls. ???? So, no I won't call the police any more. I just hang up the phone. One week it was pretty bad so when Keith drove off to his job I unplugged the phone. It was so quiet and peaceful I forgot to plug it back in. Finally a few days later Keith figured out I unplugged the phone and plugged it back in. *Laugh* Am I patient? I yell sometimes but, he really isn't a poor little misused child. He is a man who thought a woman who could handle 1500 pound horses was going to be a push over in life.

Aging isn't fun and if you have an ongoing illness it is even worse than just getting up in the morning and knowing you have to keep up calisthenics and yoga to maintain health. I want to listen to the morning birds and feed the pony. He wants to know if this is the day his health will finally fail or if there is a way back into good health without working at it. Life to me is just interesting. So, my patience will extend as far as I can make it and then it won't be there any more. I wait for things all the time. But, I get things I need or maybe I can live without them. Rewards are nice no matter when they show up.

I wrote this as if I was telling it to friends. It isn't a complaint just facts of everyday existence. In all my years of reading I only read one book that specifically described what it is like to age into the 70's and 80's. Write-On.

ow many languages do you speak? If you could instantly learn any language and be able to speak it fluently, what language would you pick? How would you use it and where would you go?

owl for signature use *Turtle1*

Language?

English is the only language I speak fluently.

I took beginning Russian in college. which consisted of social aspects of Russia and the Russian alphabet.

I've studied Spanish on and off and recognize words I hear sometimes. I also can read some Spanish, some french directions, and recognize a smidgen of German.

The language I studied the most is Hebrew. I started by taking a course in Biblical Hebrew sometime in (1980's ?). At the beginning of 2019 I started studying tourist Hebrew for the modern day with Drops. I soon discovered it isn't so far away from the Biblical Hebrew course I took. I can read Hebrew better than I can speak it .Although, I think I am getting the basic letter sounds pretty well now. I usually get a score in the 90's on a lesson even if I have not taken a lesson for a week or so. Basically because I study alone using phrases isn't happening. No one else I am near has any inclination to study it. I often say good morning and good evening to all my pets to bad they can't reply. I am considering working something out with Alexa? *Laugh* Plus, Drops is basically working on words not phrases. I have a better Hebrew vocabulary now but have to form it into phrases on my own. Next year when my Drops subscription is up I may try Babble.

I would like to study Greek or Latin because Latin helps with all languages and Greek is a basis in biological terms.

Get some flack from the religion police now and again, because they think I should have studied Greek because of New Testament. Some history of the times of Jesus I read, thought he probably spoke more Greek than Hebrew?? Upon thinking about this I believe he probably spoke whatever language the people he was with spoke?

Anyway, speak and write English I will be sure to reply.

For most of the world, today is “Spring Forward,” when clocks are set an hour ahead. In your entry today, write about time and how you make the most of it. What is worthy of spending your time on? What is not? In your opinion, what do people spend too much time on these days?

AGING

I have a large house. I clean. I do all laundry, dishes, cleaning. Many of the rooms are in a manner of remodeling. I do the painting. Plastering on drywall, grout on flooring when needed. That's not a daily job though. Only a job when we work on some room or another. We used to get wind and snow on the balcony. Two years ago in the summer K and I put a new roof on that part of the balcony then in the fall I sealed it up on the inside with foam sealer. Now, it does not get rain or snow or get wind up there at all.

I installed a cat door in my room out to the balcony and put the cat boxes out there. Except in a time of exceptional cold the cats go out there to eat and play some. If the weather is 10 degrees or below I shut the cat door and bring in boxes.

Daily, I do the banking and bill paying, dishes, laundry, vacuuming and dusting, window washing which is badly needed now. And, we have a wood furnace which I am trying to phase out. But, this year I loaded all the wood into the woodshed after my son delivered it. and , later from wood shed to furnace room sporadically as needed. Ninety percent of the wood that has to be split I'm splitting. I'm getting ready to set up a solar system which I purchased last fall. Some of our heat is now done with one room heaters which would easily run on a solar setup. K is now helping with the wood furnace now since Christmas. We have a proper BTU propane furnace for forced air heat, that was installed in 2000 but up to now have a difficult time purchasing fuel for it.

When I'm on line I write sometimes, blog, review. Not as much as I should, I think. Since fall I've been playing Township on my kindle. Township is kind of addicting I think, but do I care, I'm 75. I read Bible daily. Exercise with either Silver Sneakers or FitOn Both apps have video you can follow. This can be regular or sporadic. Also, do yoga. Would like to join a class to my knowledge there is not one in the area.

I'm usually awake by 5 a.m. that's when I do some of my reading and exercise, clean cat boxes, bird cages, and feed all the creatures, feed the pony. If it is a nice day when I go to do pony chores or barn cleaning I take the dog and when the chore is finished we walk somewhere. Depending on cold or snow it is a long or short walk. My dog is short and small so deep snow keeps him inside. If I'm having cabin fever which is possible in the winter. I walk wherever the plowing is done. 2 inches of snow I can walk around the house. Two feet of snow probably to the barn and bird feeders is as far as I want to go.

I try to do heavy work and laundry and food preparation by 1:00 so I can sit and read until 3 or 4 when I go out to do evening chores with the pony. After that it is more reading, play Township or whatever until TV at about 5. I can color or knit if the book I am reading is audio.

I review the books I read online at Goodreads but, I've been really lax about that since early in 2019. I have not been taking the monthly reading challenge since then either.

I probably don't sit more than an hour before the dog wants out or the wood furnace needs fed. There are two flights of stairs in our home. and I climb up and down them about 30 or more times a day. Feeding the furnace, doing laundry or upstairs cleaning.

I got a new LG Phone in the fall. LG put an exercise app on it that notifies you how many steps you take in a day.

I put my age in the app so every now and again it tells me I should not sit long periods of time at my age. *Laugh* I don't know why but, this makes me laugh every time I get a notification. I laugh because I lay the phone on the stand beside my chair and rarely take it with me while I accomplish whatever I am doing. The phone is the only thing that is not moving all day. I try to remember to slide it into my coat pocket when I go outside. I think it would not be fun to have some thing go wrong when I am to far from the house to get help. But, often I just run out without it. If I take it with me up and down stairs and out to the barn the app will praise me at the end of the day for increasing my steps that day and encourage me to keep up the good work. *Laugh* Another chuckle for the day.

I don't watch a lot of TV. Again TV can be sporadic. K likes auto races or football. Over the years he has taught me enough about football so I can follow the play. I bought us an amazon fire stick for Christmas, so sometimes we watch a movie on Saturday or Sunday afternoon. There are a couple of programs we like from 8 to 9. We retire to our rooms from 7 to 9. to read or sleep. Once in a great while a movie might keep us up late.

Most cooking has been my job over the years but in the last year we just stopped eating the regular meals I used to cook. We are eating more prepared foods from stores. K likes the chunky types of soups Campbell makes. I like salmon patties, with salads or chicken pieces with salads. Sometimes I cook still and sometimes it is every person for themselves. Freedom to eat what and when you want to makes me feel good.

K still works part time. So, he gets out more than I do. That is some what of a problem. We have one car. I still have a license but, don't go anywhere social.

The older you get the easier it is to live in a less confined, regulated, scheduled life.

Some of my habits remain scheduled. Pets and pony feeding and cleaning, making the bed, in the morning, keeping the dishes done and trash moved out, feeding ourselves but not always on the same clock time, laundry cycled over and over. Still, there is lots of leeway for chores and reading and TV. I put the dog out at 5 a.m. or so. Then, try to get to the barn by 9. Between those hours I do lots of different chores or read.

Sometimes I think I am wasting my time. Then I think I'm suppose to.

So, until I blog again. See Ya. P.S. I laughed at the news caster who said to be sure to change your clocks. They change themselves on computers, watches, kindles, and phones now.

What does wisdom mean to you? Give an example.

Owl with signature

WISDOM*DropW*

It means applying knowledge, experience, and proper judgement to everyday actions.

Quote: “The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.”
Isaac Asimov https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/wisdom.

Knowledge and experience make us aware of living conditions we need everyday to exist. Proper judgement in actions help us proceed with life in an energetic, straight path bringing us in line with what ever circumstances we are living through. Wisdom will incorporate knowledge, experience, and mental insights into daily circumstances.

The Woman's Bible is a two-part non-fiction book, written by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and a committee of 26 women, published in 1895 and 1898 to challenge the traditional position of religious orthodoxy that woman should be subservient to man. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Many women tried to separate the suffrage movement from this book. It attacks males with a form of avenging wrath.

I've read some chapters of The Women's Bible. At first I was astonished at the onesidedness of the writing. Taken in the context, that it attacks the churches stance on women's subservience to man, it makes sense. But, scripture is not the cause of masculine religious orthodoxy. The efficiency of male aggression is documented throughout humanities historical ages. Without female input, you would have a far different history.

For instance, in the Proverbs of Solomon, wisdom is called by the pronoun, she. Chapter 1:20,21 say: Wisdom crieth aloud in the street; She uttereth her voice in the broad places; She crieth in the chief place of concourse; At the entrance of the gates, in the city, she uttereth her words.

Solomon is considered a very wise man and king yet he gives voice in many of Proverbs writings to listening to the feminine voice for words of guidance in life.

When I was in College they had a special section called Women's studies. Yesterday I wrote about a UK group that has been formed to find ways to encourage women to join science majors. Having studied some beginning biology I know the major sciences are worried, that without female input, science is missing out on a large section of voice within research, that is impeding societies movement forward into a more peaceful and fulfilling existence.

Life isn't one sided it's how an individual looks at it that makes it that way. That's the way I see it. Who said, "walk softly and carry a big stick?"

*Laugh* It wasn't the subject that got to me it was finding an example that made me dump all this on you,

Wisdom is, that thing you did, that made you know you did something right.
