A Journal to impart knowledge and facts
July 22, 2015

I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

I thought I better update this blog since I have been so busy lately. Everything we are doing is late this year. We did not get in hay until September. Then, it looked like we did not have enough firewood for winter, so we started harvesting some trees that needed thinned. K was cutting and I was loading it up, hauling it to the house, and stocking it into the woodshed. I have been so busy storing wood for winter it seems as if I might be part squirrel. *Squirrel*

The first real snow is suppose to start here tomorrow.*Snow2* It is called lake affect. The temperatures are different between the lake and the air hitting the area so it creates snow storms.*Wind* It rained all day today. The snowy weather is forecast for at least the next 10 days.

*XMasTree* I usually put up my Christmas Tree on the first day of deer hunting season. I managed to get the tree up then OK. But, it was another several days before I had time to put on the lights and now I'm getting the ornaments on about 4 or 5 a day so I will be trimming this tree for another week at the rate I am getting it finished.

Today I was suppose to be ordering presents online so they would get here on time but, I missed *WDC* so I stopped in here first.

I also jumped into "The Monthly Reading Challenge" with a try for reading 5 books this month. I'm reading a book by Matthew Walker, PHD. called Why We Sleep. It is taking a while to finish because there is all kinds of information about how he designed the tests he used, to form the conclusions about sleep he is presenting.

All this plus, house cleaning, laundry, dishes, cooking, barn cleaning, dog walking, and reading as regular daily chores. It has been keeping me really busy. Today, I cleaned the eaves on the back porch as well. There is a big Maple Tree in the front yard. When it loses its leaves the wind blows them over the roof and into the eve troughs. It doesn't take long to clean them just busy work. But, I got drawn in and cleaned up the back porch as well.

Merry Christmas I'll be around more soon.
