A Journal to impart knowledge and facts |
July 22, 2015 I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done. I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them. I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC. |
How about having some more fun with word couplets: black stallion, sugar cookies, whipped cream. farm hand, peanut butter and grape jam. Just thought I would use the prompt to clarify. The farm hand or barn help is Keith. He eats peanut butter with grape jam. actually, it is jelly. I am not sure I know the difference. I put the sugar cookie recipe on WDC. I've read all the Black Stallion books more than once, when I was in my early teens and also as many of the red stallion books as the library had available. (I do not do allegory; this sentence is about horses.) Later in life when I was keeping horses of my own the training tips in those books were relevant. Also did not breed horses or keep stallions. Teaching riding and training were my only experience. Only buy whipped cream for the holidays. Sometimes have it for desserts at that time. When the children were growing up my sons often helped in the kitchen. Probably used cream from goats' milk for whipping. For those of you who never had goat's milk; it has a different molecular structure from cows' milk. You can expect 35% protein to 1 cup of milk and vitamin B-2. I milked my own herd. We did not homogenize the milk. I also made my own cheese. I was raised when I was a baby on goats' milk because I could not tolerate lactic acid in cow's milk, when I was young. I miss making my own yoghurt. But it is easy to gain weight on goat milk. Interesting how I could apply the words from the prompt to my real life. Bye for Now |
