My random thoughts and reactions to my everyday life. The voices like a forum.
I do not know quite what happened or when , but my hubby and I now qualify for seniors' discounts at some venues. This creates a quandary; in order to save money, but not face, we have to admit to our age. HMMMM..... We definitely do not consider ourselves to be old. In this day and age ,when people as a whole are living longer and healthier lives why are 'young seniors', those in their fifties, like moi, considered 'old'?? It's so true that age is just a perception! "Maturity" is very objective/subjective, and I object! Whew, a few years have skittered by since I composed this biography block. Those "fifties" are in the rear view mirror and they are distant, fond memories. Oh, I do not plan to stop writing any time soon.

PROMPT: The Wildcard Round! Today is the 13th, a number which many claim can be "unlucky". Do you have a lucky number? Or is it all just superstitious nonsense?
Hmmm, I don't believe I have a lucky, or unlucky number. I rarely choose to gamble and purchase lottery tickets, so I do not have a number system guaranteed to win big. I've never avoided certain dates because they may, or may not be auspicious. A number is just a number with no extra-special power associated with it.
During this recent January, I underwent knee surgery on Friday the 13th. At the time, it was scheduled, the admitting clerk asked if I was superstitious. Apparently, she sees patients book procedures according to their ideas of "good" dates, whatever they may be. To me it was just another day. It held no significance whatsoever. At any rate, I obviously survived, 13th, or not.
For years, I was semi-convinced that I had an unlucky month. Every November rolled around bringing an accident for me. Torn ligaments and muscles in my right foot because of a tumble down basement stairs. A fractured right thumb due to an unfortunate stumble down basement stairs. More sprains and strains than I care to recall. Wait a minute..... it was those damn basement stairs that were unlucky. They were definitely to be avoided in November.
I associate the dates of birthdays with good times, laughter, and fellowship. In my family circle, the numbers range all over the monthly map, so pretty well each day is an excuse for a party. No unlucky numbers there.
Ummm, maybe I do sorta have a lucky number.... I'm the firstborn in my family, and the first grandchild on my mother's side. I was born on the first of a month. At the moment, I'm still married to my first husband. Yesss, I could claim that the number known as one is my lucky number! Revelation time....
