Oh my God! ZERO points for choosing 'Math' as your topic for a branch of science. How dare you??? I just had a series of very bad flashbacks with this subject. Brrrrrrr!
Seriously though, fantastic job all around with your tasks! Your poem was quite clever, and I applaud your creative way of using the methods. I had no idea who Wilhelm Rontgen is, so that's an assignment to go investigate him a bit more. The reviews were well done, and your choice of movies was interesting (actually the only two I've seen are 'Weird Science' and 'Planet Earth')
(and 'Her' seems like something that's been done on Black Mirror...don't know if you've watched that show on Netflix)
Great job all around and good to see you participating again!
I have watched the documentary and heard that audio, iKïyå§ama. It was pretty disturbing. Just hearing all the kids screaming and stuff... horrible. I couldn't shake that one for a couple days.
Escapism at its finest!
I'm with you on the 70s. They sound interesting and it's cool to read about, but I'll take a hard pass on actually experiencing it. In fact, I'd like to fast forward at least 4 years.
That Jonestown thing still gives me chills. Man. Have you watched the documentary? I know there's probably lots of them out there, but the one that actually had the damn audio of their final moments. Unbelievable how humans allow themselves to be brainwashed so easily.
Your poem does a good job capturing the feelings of political unrest, activism, and yet escapism for some (think Disco era and all those druuuuuuuuuugs floating around). Nicely done!
And like you, there's something about living in the 70s that would have been depressing as all hell. I mean sure there were some good things, but from all the things I've read, watched, and seen, there was soooooo much other 'stuff' going on, I doubted I would have survived through that decade if I were in such a political climate.
Thanks for sharing your insights into this Andy, Charlie! Knocked it out of the ball park again!
I agree, Charlie. I enjoy writing flash fiction and reading some of the excellent examples here. As you say, it's fun! Boy, do we all need that!
Great response to the prompt
In that case, I must be a genius because I like writing short fiction more than novellas (at least these days it seems....or maybe I'm just too darn lazy ) Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Flash Fiction!
