December 27, 2012 Cobblepen's Blog "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" Blog Prompt: Has (or does) anyone in this group (want to) made/make money with their writing in some form or another. It could be from selling novels or short stories, or poetry or even from blogging or writing articles? Hello Everyone I think we all make money with our writing. Take for example, a person who is unable to read, and therefore unable to write. Their opportunities to make money would be greatly reduced. So...from reading the help wanted ads to filling out job applications...from writing a resume to signing your pay check, we all make money thanks to our writing, (and reading) If anyone is interested in buying any or all of my portfolio items, make an offer in comments. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas or a celebration of the season. This Christmas was very different for me, I tried some new things and looked at the same things with a different frame of mind, an open mind. Some might say, empty mind. Anyhow December 2012 was like no other. My only regret is that I did not find the time to write on more of the prompts and include writing into more days of the month. And, now it's time for me to move on, but I will be back next year, one more year older and wiser. See you in December of 2013. Good luck in the January Challenge. December 21, 2012 Cobblepen's Blog "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" Blog Prompt: for December 21,2012 by sunnystarr Tell what you like most about Christmas.... ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Hello there. A very merry Christmas to you. Thanks for dropping by. I've learned a lot over the past 20 odd days. The Christmas season is a very busy time of year. Brother Nature told me that I would have time to write a blog, perhaps he has finally lost his mind. Speaking of Brother Nature I should share a little news that I know he would be too modest to mention. Joel, aka Brother Nature had one of the stories he wrote published. 1969 Christmas Play, which is a non fiction story about a school Christmas play and it's production. Was published in the winter issue of "Shadows Express Magazine" http://www.shadowexpress.com/ A story about Christmas published just before Christmas, and it's a "First." Isn't that what Christmas is all about? Spreading "Good News!" One of my favorite parts of Christmas is decorating. All the hustle and bustle in preparation for the coming event. It is also a spiritual experience, we can reflect on how Joseph and Mary, and their families and everyone really, prepared for the arrival of Christ our Lord. Another part of Christmas I love is that it's a time where there is a spirit of love, giving, and good cheer present. There are so many parts of Christmas that I have always enjoyed. The smell of pine as it fills the house, when you bring in a real tree to decorate for Christmas. Christmas baking, shortbread, fruitcake, and all those yummy snacks. Drinks, with a cherry in them. Christmas kisses. Wishing strangers a Merry Christmas. Giving. Receiving...I love getting toys. Visiting with family and friends. Classic Christmas productions such as: The Grinch Who Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss. A Charlie Brown Christmas by Charles Schultz, The Santa Claus Parade. Eggnog. A little bit of rum in the eggnog. I like getting little gifties from my pals ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** It's a good thing New Years Day is right around the corner, I feel another weight loss resolution is in order. December 6, 2012 Cobblepen's Blog Today's prompt is from ruwth Let's just call her Ruth . Ruth says: Just call me ramblin' ruwth... No, wait, don't call me that. It is not who I want to be. When children start to draw, they scribble. As they grow and learn., their scribbles become more and more refined. Some become amazing artists. What about us? How do we go from rambling to refined with our writing? "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" Blog Prompt:The Journey From Rambling to Refined Check this out - I'm an Elf, right? Some people would say, "Elves don't exist." But I exist, even if it's only in the mind of some depraved lunatic. Even so, I exist in the minds of anyone that reads my writing. That reminds me, I never did thank Brother Nature for setting me up with this blogging group. Some of you may know Brother Nature, he's been on WDC nearly two years now. I have to be honest, because as everyone knows, it's only those tea bag producing Elves, that are lying little son's of bi....uhm sorry bout that. Where was I ? Oh yeah, Brother Nature's writing. Bro's writing has improved light years from what it was when he first signed up on WDC. That doesn't mean his writing is any good, it's only saying how bad it was initially. Bro's writing is nowhere near "Refined," but he is on the journey, rambling right along, turning out the occasional gem, and making friends along the way. As for me, I guess I can say I learned everything I know about writing from Brother Nature. December 5, 2012 Cobblepen's Blog Today's prompt is from sunnystarr Miss Sunny Star, has a perfect record of appearing on the "Good Little Girl" List. "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" Blog Prompt: To Wish Upon A Fallen Star...You can use this prompt in any way you choose. [Embed For Use By Upgraded+] Hello there We used to say, I still do ... Star light, star bright. First star I see tonight. I wish I may. I wish I might. Get the wish, I wish tonight. Wishing stars, are a big part of Elfin culture, that's not quite the same as "Fallen Stars." A good example of "Fallen Stars" from an Elves's standpoint, would be the, "Seven Dwarfs." Like really...What have they done since, Snow White? Dopey carried the other six. Ummn It might be, "Falling Stars" we're talking about. Falling stars would be a concern. Our sun is the closest star to our planet. Could you imagine, if it fell? Wishing is good. I think a lot of the things that I acquire, might have been things I wished for at one time, but then forgot about it. Ha ha another wish just came through. December 4, 2012 Cobblepen's Blog "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" Blog Prompt:Where do you find the time? How do you make time for yourself in your daily routine? Being an elf is not such an easy task, especially around Christmas time. It would be nice if Brother Nature could have helped me out with a better prompt, but, What can ya do? Elffin ain't easy. Now that I'm retired, I have plenty of time for myself, or so it would seem. The key to having time for yourself is to make every minute your own time. The way to do this is to: only do the things you love doing. It also works if you love whatever it is you do. Most of the years I worked for Santa inc. I worked on the "Naughty & Nice" list. I was in charge of the "Lump of Coal" inventory. I hated it! I wanted to work in the "Toy Construction Shop" When I finally got the opportunity to work in the "Toy Dept." It really made a difference in my whole life. I enjoyed EVERY part of my day. I still have a bit of pull over in the "Naughty & Nice" Dept. I'm going to go over there right now, and put Brother Nature's name on the, "Naughty List" for writing such a lame prompt. December 2, 2012 Cobblepen's Blog "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" Blog Prompt:So while you're relaxing today, reflect on what you think might be fun to be if you could have some body parts of an animal. How would those feel in place of your normal equipment. Maybe you'd like to be a centaur or other mythical creature (merperson, etc.?). Have fun with it. Yes, it would be nice to rest and relax and reflect on a Sunday in December. Imagining myself with a fine set of wings. The strong, broad wings of an eagle. I would fly high above the earth, free to go anywhere under the sun. I would have the gills of a fish and I could dive, from high in the sky, deep down into the ocean. I evolve cat like reflexes and fight crime until I'm exhausted. Imagine yourself having the ability to snooze like an old hound dog. close your eyes and relax, and sleep...sleeeeep. December 1, 2012 Cobblepen's Blog "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" Blog Prompt:What is your favorite December tradition? Hi Everybody. Sorry I'm late getting this blog entry in. I've just settled into a new living arrangement, and only recently learned of this group. My name is Gordy, and I'm recently retired from my job as chief toy designer at the north pole toy shop. Now that I have a little extra time I've decided to try writing a Christmas blog. I've spent several human generations working to bring the joy of Christmas to all the people of earth. I know about all the Christmas traditions you humans have, but I've always sensed there was more to it than Santa Claus let on. As for Traditions for us elves, we have some different traditions, some of them are secrets, so secret, that I don't even know what they are. That way, I can't be tempted to tell anyone about them. The biggest tradition in elf life is when we leave our hidden homeland to join the human cause. It is customary for all eligible elves to assemble in full elfin costume while the names and assignments of each elf is called out. An elf can either be a cookie manufacturer, a teabag producer, or work in the Christmas Industry, for Santa Inc. I was selected to work for Santa Inc. During the selection ceremony there are several secret events that I can't tell anyone about. It does rain cookies at some point, and you didn't hear that from me.
