I'm totally with ya...I can't really get into sci-fi or fantasy either. I've tried...I finally read 1984 and Brave New World within the last year and I enjoyed them, but that's as far as I could see myself going. Same with movies...I liked the old Star Wars movies, but I wouldn't say I'd go all-out for them. And I have yet to see any besides the original three. It just...doesn't do much for me. But I can respect that there are those who really enjoy the genre...it makes a ton of money, that's for sure.
I delve into the sci-fi genre on occasion. My brother is really, really into Star Wars. Never let him quiz you on Star Wars trivia. We've seen all the Star Wars and Hobbit movies to date. But I don't think I'm as avid a fan as he is.
I don't know about Garth, but it's not everyone that can get such an award. I think you are allowed to give yourself credit where it's due. There will always be someone better than you, but that doesn't mean you can't take some pride in your accomplishments.
I am the opposite, it takes a great deal to get me to cry. However, I volunteer for Honor Flight, they take veterans to DC to see their monuments, and every single time I go to the airport for the Welcome Home Celebration I cry like a baby!
