The random thoughts of a Baby-Boomer STILL adjusting to life in senior housing (after five years)...
Almost exactly nine months after World War II ended, one historian writes, “the cry of the baby was heard across the land.” More babies were born in 1946 than ever before: 3.4 million, 20 percent more than in 1945. This was the beginning of the so-called “baby boom.” In 1947, another 3.8 million babies were born; 3.9 million were born in 1952; and more than 4 million were born every year from 1954 until 1964, when the boom finally tapered off. By then, there were 76.4 million “baby boomers” in the United States. They made up almost 40 percent of the nation’s population. - www.history.com
It's really odd how memory works. I have great memory associated with sight, but not as great when not. It seems some people are not playing with a full deck, and Connie seems like one. Next time I'd put a not written to her…something like "Gotcha!"
I used to look forward to the weekends so very much but then one day I realized how few of them in my life I actually have made me reconsider time in general. Every day is priceless whether it be nothing of consequence or not, the fact that we are here to enjoy it makes it worthwhile and then some!
I always enjoy my random visits with you.
It takes me about a week to get used to the time change. I am lazy about changing the time pieces...some are still dst...and some of my calendars still say October. Does it matter? I don't think so . I know time is marching on and daylight hours are getting ever shorter no matter the calendar or the clock.
Maybe it's the season, but it sounds like your body is trying to tell you to crawl and the groans may be precursors to growling. In other words, you're turning into a werewolf or just need to keep the old frame greased and moving more. Otherwise, the rust sets in and gravity is like a magnet on the iron joints constantly pulling down.
Another (odd) suggestion is to use a high bar height chair. That way you don't fall into it and have to rise back up but just slide forward and drop the feet, and you're standing. It's the only good thing about an SUV that you step in and then out and don't have to fight age and gravity combined.
