To keep a record of the progress- or lack thereof- on my sf novel.
I can't describe it more specifically. I haven't written anything yet!

I've been busy this last week. I'm going back to school, so I had to get my application for admission and FAFSA done. That was a hectic week-long game of phone tag!

I only got a small amount of writing done. First, I had to write five songs for "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window.. They turned out alright considering. When I wrote them, my mother-in-law was here with her brother doing some minor renovations to our house. My son was running around, of course. My husband wasn't in the best of moods, though no one but me can usually tell. I was between phone calls with my enrollment counselor. Basically, the entire house was bustling around me! I wrote 3 of them in half an hour, went out to dinner with Nik's mom and uncle, returned a power drill we borrowed to my neighbors, gave Tripp his bath and put him to bed, ran to the store with a friend, then came back and quickly wrote the other two in the 15 minutes before dinner was ready. They could probably use some editing. ;)

Here's the big shock though: I actually got some writing done on my novel! :D

I finished Chapter 5 and started Chapter 6. I don't know how much I actually wrote, but I'd guess about 1000 words. Maybe less. Regardless, it felt good to work on it. I'm not sure yet if I really want to end Chapter 5 or just make what I wrote of Chapter 6 part of the previous chapter. Oh well, at least it's written! Turned out pretty well too, so I imagine I'll leave it alone.

I still haven't done a single bit of editing on my novel- though boy oh boy do I want to! I got a great review yesterday from Satuawany Author Icon over Chapter 1. It took all of my will power to not edit it! She had some great ideas, and her feedback was just exactly what I needed to know! I've finally gotten an opinion about my characters. She also said what the first chapter made her feel, which turned out to be exactly what I was going for! I'm ecstatic that some of the things I tried worked! If you read this Chy, thanks! :)

I'll probably try to work on my novel again soon. Maybe even tonight if my husband feels like keeping Tripp occupied for a few hours. He's always so good about playing with Tripp that I doubt it will be the reason if I don't get anything done. Procrastination isn't just a hobby for me... it's an art form and a way of life!

Oh yeah! I got my very first sig! Thanks Riot Author Icon!

I've made a few forums/activities for A.C.E. and wrote a newsletter for the group. My very first newsletter.

I also placed in my first contest! It was very lackluster though.. third place with only three contestants. I feel kind of robbed of my first real victory, if that makes sense. When I first noticed, I thought I had really placed in my first ever competition. The "winning" piece was "Day at the Races, Night at the BarOpen in new Window. for the "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window. contest.

I've gotten a bunch of really good reviews lately. A trend that I hope continues! I've gotten a ton of gp lately for my own reviews too, which I obviously have no complaints about. I checked the Most Credited Reviewers list.... #78. That's up from #90 when I checked a week ago. Not too bad considering I've only done a couple reviews since then!

I'm actually being paid to edit a friend's novel! I really can't believe it! I needed the money really badly, so I couldn't be happier!

I guess that's about it. No work on my novel. No new stories.

After writing that first blog entry, I finished Chapter 4 and began Chapter 5. Since then I've not touched my science fiction novel! I decided that my time might be better spent by getting used to writing again. It had been nearly 10 years since I'd completed a single piece- prose or poetry! The novel is a bit ambitious considering.

I've written a ton of short stories, a few poems, a mock newspaper article and editorial, a few lame essays.. In short, I'm getting back into my groove. I'll likely start working on my novel again soon. Now that I'm a Probationary Member of "WYRMOpen in new Window., my novel is up for review. I imagine that will give me the needed nudge to plunge ahead with it.

I've been having fun anyway! :)

Today I spent about four hours writing on my, as yet untitled, science fiction novel. For my time, I accomplished very little! 800 words in four hours does not impress me, but I'm consoling myself with the knowledge that they're 800 well written words. The total time I've spent working on the novel today was lengthier still. After getting some helpful insight from a member of w.com, I spent about 45 minutes editing a previous chapter. I had to do quite a bit of research on one aspect of the technology. Somehow I never think to look up all of the information I need. I detest having to stop writing to fact check; it disturbs my creative flow! Add another hour for research. I also spent about an hour and a half discussing the novel with another member, from which I garnered some good ideas.

That is a total of 7 hours and 15 minutes. 800 words is seeming like less all the time!

If anyone wants to review a chapter from the science fiction novel I'm working on, I'd be extremely grateful! I need all the help I can get.

Distracted Embrace - Chapter 3 Open in new Window. (13+)
No more input needed! This chapter has been scrapped. :)
