"Dummy!", the whisper was louder than she wanted it to be, but the sheets of parchment were fluttering down to the ground all over the cluttered attic.
"I didn't mean it!", another whisper in the dimly lit room, from above most of the stacked furniture.
A lantern came into the room with several other children, illuminating the dusty cobwebbed room.
"Shhhushhhh, if they hear we aren't going to be able to play up here anymore", the lantern bearer spoke as he looked around, "help me get these sheets up."
The lantern was placed on a high shelf and a dozen hands began to pick up the scattered sheets.
"There aren't any page numbers, what are they?"
"We can't play hide and seek with only one lantern, lets read them."
The oldest girl saw the heads nod up and down, picked up the top page of the unkempt stack and began to read...
