| Prompt: Write something about Halloween today. Halloween. I watched Sabrina, The Teenage Witch and Bewitched today. Our line phone was flashing and said in use but all the phones were on the hook. So, what gives? It rained today. I wore my Twilight T SHIRT and Twilight jewelry. We never get Trick Ertreaters. We always have a bag of candy on hand. Over the years at Halloween, I have went as a Witch, Pansy Faye of Dark Shadows, Bonnie Parker, Audra Barkley, Mary Crawley at a 1920s Tea. Roaring 20s Dancer and I forgot over the years. My son was 5 and I bought him a ET costume and I dressed as Gertie. I had found a little girl's dress, one that looked like a little girl. October. I watch Halloween shows. I watched Dark Shadows, both versions, Practical Magic, Vampire Diaries and Van Helsing. I saw orange flashing lights in the cornfield three weeks ago. I have no idea what that was about. Halloween. I hope people have fun with the holiday but don't hurt anyone. I used to put pumpkins out. I just decorate with a stuffed dancing black cat and a dancing Frankenstein. Halloween. It has been around since Celtic times. Ghosts. Spooky things. Haunted castles. Anything Spooky goes. Halloween is a neat holiday. Treat it right. Enjoy the holiday.  |
| Prompt: On this day in 1870 Postcards were first used in the Untied States. Do you send postcards? If so does it bother that anyone can read your message? What about collecting postcards? Have you ever collected them? I send postcards when I go on vacation. I haven't done that in years. I use to buy picture postcards when I go somewhere and scrapbook them. Others reading my postcard messages. If they fine them interesting, I say have at it. At least someone is reading what I write. I have a box of postcards I have gotten from people since I was a kid. I got one from Venezuela once from a guy I knew from Church Youth Group. He did the missionary thing. A postcard keeps the message brief and are easier to send. I enjoy scenery postcards as well as animal postcards. I haven't gotten a postcard in awhile but I appreciate the ones I have. Postcards are nice and simple. |
| Prompt: "You have to control your feelings before they take control of you." Violet Downton Abbey I know it is Maggie Smith, Violet Week. Write about this quote in your Blog entry today. I have had health problems upset me so bad and I need a Xanax to feel better. My family were being hard to handle when my father died last year and I had to get a handle on things. Mom was being a brat and my sister and son were home. They don't live around here. I was crying and mad at everyone. I listened to Vietnam Protest Songs because Dad was in Vietnam three times and Dad and I had never been close {Thank you, Vietnam! NOT!} but the last 25 years we were better and were in a great place the last 10 years of his life. My son is a Psychologist and we talked and I got control of my feelings. I was sad. At Dad's funeral, I found out people were there for us. My mother got it together and my sister and I weren't raised together but we were there for each other dealing with things. I got control of my feelings and my family and I bonded then. We had to. You don't want to fight at a funeral. At my job with bosses and the mentally ill. That was rough. I had to take control of my feelings and be there for those people plus take care of my own needs. I got the job done. I am retired now and I am glad. I still get upset. I have arthritis and other health issues but I see a Doctor and deal with things. We have to. I try to control my feelings before they get the better of me. I want to stay mentally sound. Or is hope a totally empty thing, used only to dull the pain?" Hope and God is all we have when it comes to a crisis. We don't want bad things in our life so we need something to hang onto. We don't want to be miserable. I have always hope and I pray. Realty is there. We can't hide but we can't give in and give up. We look for answers and hope is what we look for. Life is bad enough and we don't abandon hope or God. I hate reality when things are bad. That's why I write. I write happy endings and it makes me feel better. Violet handled things differently. She would argue with Satan himself and cut him down to size. Hope is our good luck charm. We need it. We can't let reality win all the time.
