That is certainly part of it. But there are other writer's sites that do that. WDC is more of a community. There is a sharing that goes on here, perhaps much like you would experience in a writer's group in your hometown. There's a give and take.
It could be that some writer's wonder about you. We can all have opinions about the things we have read. But knowing about the person behind a review is probably just as important as knowing the person behind a story or poem. We can take a person's age and experience level into our reviews. And if someone is upset with a review, knowing what the person is like behind it might save heated words.
What I've learned about dreams is that I have to write them down as soon as I wake up or I lose them. If that's at 3 am, then so be it. I keep a note pad by the bed.
