An incredibly disturbing look upon society and its future. *Just a start*
A cold wind descended upon the desolate plain, brushing past a lone figure standing in a patch of burnt grass. Slowly the figure walked to the edge of the plain only to be stopped by what seemed to be an endless chain fence. Cautiously he looked through the fence into the ghetto of the largest city in the Greater Plains Region.
Rotting garbage littered the street and rats hungering for something edible gnawed at the unconscious form of a burnt out drifter. Above this scene lay the balcony of an apartment where children were playing with time worn toys, some of which had been their grandparents'. They were garbed in tattered clothing, some seemingly sewn from the grungy remains of old curtains and torn apart furniture coverings, but alas they didn't seem to mind, in this world you had to be happy for what you had.
A sewage cover rattled then slowly began to lift and slide towards the run down apartment complex. Then slowly creeping a thin-framed male emerged wearing nothing but white. Stealthily he walked across the littered street, stepping on the drifter as he passed and then continued onto the stairs leading to he balcony on which the children played. Carefully he made his way up each stair seemingly as to ensure avoiding detection. As he mounted the last of the stairs the children gave no sign of recognition, they seemed unable to sense his presence.
Coldly a smile came across the man's face as he drew a gun from under his belt. Calculatingly he pointed the revolver at the oldest child, only seven years of age, and pulled the trigger. There was a loud bang as the boy fell dead to the ground, and still the other children still seemed not to notice him and went on playing their game. Then came a second bang, a third, a fourth, then a fifth, and finally a sixth. In the end six children were all lying dead leaving but one child still alive. Malevolently the man walked over to the survivor. It was a blonde haired blue eyed girl of only three years of age. Coldly the man slapped her, then held a knife to her throat. "You'll fetch a nice price on the market," he spat in her face laughing. As he grabbed her a tear fell from her face, and then in an instant they both were gone.
Desperately the figure by the fence attempted to scale his now seeming prison, tears flowing freely from his face. How coud he have let this happen? They were all so young, yet this was an event so common. No longer could he stand living in a society so corrupt, something had to be done.
Sobbing he fell from the fence landing on his back knocking all the air from his lungs. Gasping he stood shakily, "This is the last time! Never again will I allow such action to go unpunished!"
