i'm sorry to hear about your problems. from what i've read of you and from what we've spoken of, i do not think you're a cheapskate. if you have the money you have always seemed generous. you've always seemed generous in other ways as well. it's not right how she's jerking you around regarding the money.

did i already comment on this? i felt like i did, but now i can't find it in my email history, so i'll give you the abridged version of what i thought i said.
1. logic doesn't "not work" on women.
2. some women decide to react illogically to some issues.
3. it's your hair.
4. the thought that you would entertain wearing a haircut you hate because you're scared not doing so would actually, literally (not playfully) affect your relationship warrants serious evaluation.
5. women only start nitpicking about things like this when they feel sure they have the upper hand and can get away with it.
i trust your feelings about jackie, but i also trust your earlier remark that maybe you're spoiling her. to a bystander, this relationship does not sound like one between equals. cut your hair, and use that as a jumping-off point to start insisting on some equity.
If your hair was short when she began dating you, then she has no right to complain about it now. If long hair is so important to her, then she should have only dated guys with that particular length.
Say, "I'll grow my hair out if you'll stop wearing eye makeup."
Be careful to explain to her that you think she's equally attractive with or without makeup, and that since it really makes no difference to you, you guys might as well save your collective money.
Several years ago, when the denizens of writng.com were filing complaints about the site's so-called "ugly" yellow background, SM stated something along the lines of, "It's yellow because studies have shown that light colors, but not blingingly white colors, are easiest on readers' eyes." This explanation placated the masses and, in some cases, fostered a certain amount of respect and even love for the previously shunned background color. Of course, over the years, writing.com denizens became so acclimated to the color that they no longer seemed to even be aware of its presence.
You, grim, are unique in that, based on what you've said here, you seem to have occasionally stopped and admired the background, which indicates that you were able to see the color, much in the same way that Neo could recognize the Matrix.
Clearly, StoryMaster, being the all-knowing creator that he is, has deduced your awakening. Now, if someone, especially a common yellow case such as yourself, can be cognizant of this Matrix, if you will, then it's possible that our overlord, StoryMaster, might begin to feel threatened and may, consequently, adjust the Matrix. Which, apparently, is what's happening with this whole "let's make the background white" hoo haw.
So, I'm going to conclude that all of this is your fault, grim, and your jokingly mentioning that it's all one big conspiracy theory is just a ploy to cover up the fact that it is all one big conspiracy and you know it.
