Totally understand, though. I let my membership lapse here last October for the same reasons. All I did here was blog. And it wasn't cheap. And on top of that, Blogville was (and still is) on life support. I even made a wordpress blog myself and wrote a few entries, but then deleted the whole thing and came back here a few months ago. It sucks that blogging can't be included in the free memberships here.
Have fun over there. I will do my best to remember to visit, but I'm old and sometimes the 'out of sight, out of mind' problem rears it's stupid head, so remind me! I mean it!
You mean to say you wasted 35 minutes of prime blog writing time just sitting and thinking about something interesting to say??? You should know by now that your unique thoughts are pretty interesting, so whatever was way up there in that brain of yours would have been good to read about. Don't let it happen again. Heh heh.
I used to know some women who, ehem, bartered for goods, services and monetary gain.
At first I was judgmental about it because, OMG, how could you devalue yourself that way. But...as I knew them, I realized that they were selling the only goods they owned to further their lives. They had bills and little to no skills except in.....unorthodox goods. Several of them worked as exotic dancers and made good money that way, but they also made excellent money as escorts. A couple put themselves through college that way.
I was flattered to be, er, propositioned by a couple of them one night to join them in both enterprises as I had "a rockin' hot bod" and by their estimations would "make bank, baby."
So....it's not just men. Although, what I was offered was to be in charge of myself, not to be simply bought or sold.
I'm certainly glad you're blogging regularly, Gypsy, because I swear every time I log on here, you're the only blog I recognize. Don't stop! Keep me entertained. No pressure.
I've always felt it would totally suck to be a woman....in ANY country. I don't know how you all put up with men, and I'm only half joking there. Again, a very unique and interesting entry. Incident #2 is totally freaky, and being so far from home I think I'd be feeling sick I couldn't just run home to everything that feels safe and secure. Glad that didn't turn out like it could have. That 'reality' you mentioned....needing protection from other soldiers....wow, that's disturbing. But how many people can say they've been the object of that kind of affection THREE times in their life? Flattering in a strange way perhaps? Or maybe not so much.
Man, you could have had a generator! Think of the possibilities there. I can't think of any myself, but I'll bet you can. And, hey, you're young.....there's still time for a better offer, though I know it must have been hard to turn down that flag.
