Cake time
Day three. National Pastry day.

Well these days I rarely eat pastries. You know for all those reasons we read about.
A different story though when I was a chubby kid who didn’t care too much about body image.
Every Saturday I would go with my Mum to Deans Bakery. We would get a box, about a foot square, and fill it with small cakes. Dad always wanted a cream horn. I hated those so he was safe. My favourite by far was a slice of Battenburg cake. This was multicoloured with a layer of almond icing wrapped around it. There would always be a chocolate eclair, a Bakewell tart and other fancy cakes. Oh I nearly forgot the custard tart and jam doughnut!
