Mini-review of "Invalid Item" ![]() A whine, a lament, a final acceptance. It does evoke a response from me, but I ought to identify with the old leaf... because I am one! It's free form poetry pressed into the form of a leaf. Only one comma... and even that's not needed. It depends upon a lyrical flow instead of other poetic devices. It could use a couple to strengthen it. This writer writes stronger poems; the theme of this one is a bit cliche. Rating? Maybe a 4.0. What is your opinion of autumn? I usually like the comings of Spring, the goings of Autumn. In Montana, I love how everything becomes colorful after the dull wither and heat of Summer and Smoke Season. I love crisp air and the falling temps. I anticipate the first snowflake, usually in November, as late as December. In Japan, November is winter and rain, and no football. Well, in 2020, not here either. This year in Montana we had 6" of snow in October after a deep frost the killed the leaves. They hang limp. Last time this happened they hung on into Spring and my friend Lori lost her lavender crop to the unexpected freeze. This year the lavender in town looks okay. I stripped some today, put it in a tea strainer and used the water for chocolate hazelnut cocoa. This year early Autumn felt like Winter. Then we had the false Summer of Election Week. And now the so-so weather lingers. Today it was sunny and mild enough for a walk to the grocery store. Usually I like Autumn, but like everything else this year this one has been unpredictable. My body feels it. Staying in my room has become a ritual. A deadly one. I'm not looking forward to December. I commented to Sumojo ![]() My problem is that I interact with strangers better than with people I know. It's as if I'm hoarding them and don't quite remember where I put them. Shallow? Not exactly. It's a two-way street. I connect and they disconnect... I'm barely plugged in, IRL. Kindness though does matter." 3.245 |
