"Thank you for COVID-19" [13+] by LightinMind Mini-review: A very engaging read. And timely. Of many possible futures the one depicted is bleak. I'd weep for Taiwan. Korea devastated? London nuked? The US under a military dictatorship? Very bleak indeed. Covid-19 does seem like a better outcome... I give it a 4.5. I'm not particularly fond of the style but short fiction only allows for so much plot, setting, character development. And PM Johnson did have a difficult time with covid-19, not like DJT who considers everything a personal affront or joke. This brings me to the prompt: What has happened to you that is good as a direct result of COVID-19? Not much. I've done a lot of writing, some reconnecting. Too much time alone (and not in a good way). Travel really helps me keep active. It also allows me to avoid issues and distracts. But sitting at home hasn't lead to any great revelations or progress. I should use this as a Space Cadet prompt. The Void is not devoid of illness. Thought of the day. Cancel culture... did I etch a letter into my skin, put a stamp on it, canceled it myself and leave? Should I have fought? I no longer know what would've, could've, should've been. I floundered for a very long time. These days I sit alone, spend too much time alone. I canceled myself, sent myself around the globe, but the letter was never received. It bears the stamp "send back to sender, address and recipient unknown". 3,172 |
