Halloween

Prompt: Write about Halloween and how it has changed over the years.

Halloween was so much fun when I was a kid and I loved dressing up. We used to start out Trick Er Treating at 5:00PM and stay out until 9:00 PM and after. There was no violence or kidnapping. They started to find candy with razor blades in it and parents had to inspect the candy. Stories of children getting raped and killed twenty years later. Halloween changed. Now, Halloween is from 5:00 PM to 6:30PM. Some places have Halloween events and kids don't go from house to house. I worked at a county home with 40 patients and the staff and guests had a haunted house in the chapel. Each patient passed out candy. Some passed out popcorn balls, pencils, ink pens, pads of paper, little stuffed animals and a kid could leave there with 40 to 50 items. Now, with the virus, towns by us have canceled Halloween. This is so sad. I pray things get back to normal. I miss a normal life.
