Shakespearean Sonnet: "In the Back Yard"
Each wave of green throughout the backyard flows,
though blades are still without the slightest move.
The flow'ring blooms how silently they grow.
Each falling leaf the growing cold reproves.
The greenhouse opens arms to welcome home
the tender plants, who need a place to stay.
The pruning must begin its annual tome
of blooming canes recycled for new day.
Some pine cones litter 'round the big pine tree
as colored bottles form a glassy fence.
Mimosas in the cold are blossom-free.
Lantanas stand awaiting time to winch.
The back yard days are shorter now for play,
but silent nights must all the Lord obey.
