October Days
The coolness of this year,
the brightness of the light,
a hopefulness so clear,
a new day bless-ed quite.

A breeze is in the air
a log is in the hearth,
we'll COVID-miss the Fair,
but play at home our mirth.

To sit upon a bench
so easy in our yard,
a thirst for nature quench
the cost we can afford.

The sunset is quite grand,
the cloak of night enfolds.
The crooners with their band
attention quickly holds.

Mosquitoes carry off
these souls in reverie.
Chapeaus we all will doff,
then in the house to flee.
