Stories and Poetry of the Past |
No Bucket List Needed On the large wooden porch of old they gathered To celebrate a life that truly mattered Young and old, a mixture of folks all mingled Conversations of love and memories kindled It was the time of the sunset rising The laughter of youth hung in the air mesmerizing Stars poked holes in the sky in preparation A group sat pondering the wonder of creation With admiration and honor, they reminisced About a man who had no need for a bucket list He lived each moment as he saw fit Faith and family, his personal tool kit His motto to work hard until the day is done Be Grateful for God’s gifts with each new sun Bask in His grace with each moment permitted Enjoy all life offers with passion committed Upon the porch the generations spanned Discussing the man who lived life so grand Taking his time to smell the proverbial rose Their love and loss for the man exposed Tears released with prayers heaven sent For a man whose time on earth so richly spent From the word of God, his moral code of life derived Here sitting on this porch, his legacy survived Reflections of a family on a porch embraced Memories of the man their sorrow replaced Through thoughts of love in all they shared In the circle of friends the grief is bared Each era that passes our heredity reborn Eternal his memory where the roots are strong Time our endowment, take no second for granted Love lives Immortal with family firmly planted Around the porch the photos passed With family memories made to last Images echo with our past revealed Genesis of our future becomes sealed His dancing eyes and colossal grin Portray a man of contentment within Having attained in his life for all he wished There was never a need for a bucket list |
