Confident me.
PROMPT September 8th

What does confidence mean to you? Describe the traits of a confident person. Looking at the traits you listed, would you consider yourself a confident person?

I feel I am confident because I’m self sufficient. I’ve never been great at being an amazing friend. You know those people who’ll go above and beyond for a friend. I know I’m not like that. I’ll do whatI can to help, but I’d not expect a friend to go the extra mile for me.
From my adult children I expect nothing except concern for my well being. I don’t expect them to ignore their own children/partners for my welfare. I’m not their problem. But I do know people of my age who demand to be taken care of by their children.
I was not always as confident as I am today. It’s been a slow journey.
My husband and I have been married for 55 years. We knew each other for seven years before we were married. Eventually one of us is going to die, leaving the other alone. We speak of this often. I believe I would cope better than he would. I know I would be devastated but I have the confidence in myself that I would be okay.
