The Scent of Christmas Eve
I watched the Christmas tree lights glow,
I listened for sleigh bells jingling,
while inhaling the scent of cinnamon
and freshly baked pumpkin pie.

I knew Grandma was in the kitchen
baking homemade pies for Christmas day,
and preparing the turkey's stuffing mix.

Before I went to bed on Christmas Eve,
she would bring me a cup of hot chocolate
and set out the cookies for Santa Claus.

The house always smelled so nice,
with the aroma of spices everywhere
that I wanted Christmas Eve to last
throughout the coming year.
