What are you waiting for?

There are so many ways to answer this question, both light and heavy, so I look forward to reading where you go with it!

"Don't wish away your life, live it now!" Something I can remember my Mom saying over and over and now that I am old and she has been gone decades, I still hear it. Time continuously speeds up and I juggle so many plates, I need to set priorities and deadlines. Waiting for an appointment is an opportunity to pull out my iPad mini, or my iPhone and read a book or check-in at WDC, write a poem, respond to a blog. Or when waiting in a line, to double check my list, or to talk to different people, hear their stories. There are so many interesting people around us. Before the iPad and phone I always carried a paperback and a small note pad and pen. Sometimes I actually plan the wait time to work on something, a response to a client, making a journal entry, planning my week, or whatever.

So I don't think of waiting as a negative. Do I get impatient when I need a response from someone else in order to move forward with something I'm passionate about? Absolutely, but I have enough other balls in the air that I can distract myself from the annoyance and I can fill in the time. Plus I don't wait long, I usually barrel through or go another route if the wait has gone beyond my perceived deadline. Patience is pretty far down the list of my virtues. If you can't keep up, I have probably moved on accept with my special needs granddaughter Brooklyn. For her, I have all of the patience in the world.
