The Rose of Carmel: To The Bab
The Rose of Carmel:
To The Bab
Atop the mountain blooms
the white Rose of Carmel
reflecting to humanity
the light of unity.
The seed of this rose was planted
by The Bab
in the soil of the Bayan1
and water with His blood;
Baha'u'llah transplanted the rose
into the Garden of the The Kitáb-i-Aqdas2.
All the colors are equal,
their intensity the same
thus revealing the oneness
of the names of God,
the foundation of religion,
and of humanity.
Half way down the mountain
the Queen of Carmel stands
inviting the human race
to experience the
perfume of unity
and sip the rose water
of immortality.
This is poem 165 of the 200 I am writing to celebrate the Bicentenary of the Birth of The Bab. The inspiration for this poem was the buildings at the crest of Mount Carmel in Israel.
Footnotes 1 The book containing the laws revealed by the Bab. 2 The book containing the laws revealed by Baha'u'llah.
