COMPLACENCY: How does God see it? -- Sept 24
WOE TO THEM THAT ARE AT EASE IN ZION  (See Amos 6:1-3.)

While attending a church “fire” meeting on Sunday, September 22, 2019 (with worship, dancing and prayer), I contemplated… Why, Holy Spirit, are you not manifesting today, tangibly as in time’s past? I immediately heard, “Woe to them that are at ease in Zion” --- a rebuke.

But, what does this mean for me?

“Am I” at ease in Zion? If so, how? Maybe I nap too much on weekends, and maybe I am not allowing sufficient time for bible study and prayer prior to work. I look at this. But am I still "at ease in Zion?"

“Woe to them that are at ease in Zion,” speaks of complacency. So, I looked up the definition of “complacent.”

COMPLACENT

Google: showing smug or uncritical satisfaction with oneself or one's achievements.”

Merriam-Webster:
1:  marked by self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies : marked by complacency : SELF-SATISFIED ...a complacent smile
2:  COMPLAISANT SENSE 1 complacent flattery (not applicable)
         3:  UNCONCERNED

When worshipping at church, I was happy, smiling, enjoying myself. Apparently, the Lord ---- who knows me better than I know myself ---- saw me as “smug, with uncritical satisfaction with myself and/or my achievements.”

I was happy, worshiping the Lord and also in that my immediate financial difficulties were temporarily assuaged. Only now do I see that by speaking directly with my boss (instead of waiting on the Lord), I "forced a solution." This was not an "act of faith," but of "self-will."

He (God) sees me as “marked by self-satisfaction” especially “accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers and/or deficiencies,” “self-satisfied.”

         I repent.

Is this "Word" for me alone? No.

PRAYER: May God bless you (and me) with perpetual spiritual and financial providence.
