Other people's opinion of you is none of your business
30DBC: Ask someone you trust the following question and write about their answer: “What are my best qualities and what are my worst qualities?”
Most bloggers found this difficult. Who to ask? Is anyone available to ask?
So, I waited until I went to lunch and asked Al, Jane and Kathy.
THE GOOD:
1. intelligent, caring
2. bright, poetic, energy, good eye for photos.
3. gentle.
THE NOT SO GOOD:
1. cynical.
2. "you don't call me handsome."
3. worries too much.
Hmm... I think of myself as a connector, but an annoying one. So, I was curious. I do know that I think more and deeper than the average person so comments along that line are no surprise and friends constantly think I worry too much. So there's that.
But... I think they had difficulty with the question. To demand more depth than a muted black/white I like him / I don't like him isn't done in this culture.
Oh well, since I've never been good at being anyone else, I'll just continue being me.
Monte did remind me, "Other people's opinion of you is none of your business.'
