Waking Up1

I wake
before dawn pours
cream into the black coffee of night.

I rise
before mourning doves
lament the passing wind.

Gratitude List For 9 Rahmat

Today I am thankful ...
          ...that my Bank of America checking account is not overdrawn today.
          ...for fresh brewed hot coffee.
          ...that I was able to pay the rent today.
          ...for the sweet roll I have to go with my coffee this morning.
          ...that I could transfer $10.38 from my Survey Junkie account to my checking account.
          ...for the yogurt I had for my morning snack.
          ...that my prescriptions for Levothyrocine and Lisinopril arrived today.
