May my opinions gather wind under their wings and fly, perchance to soar. |
Echo chambers June 11th, 2019 I am somewhat concerned that many people who are upset are only speaking to people who are upset. Not everyone is upset. Not everyone sees a reason to be concerned. How do those of us who are upset handle the issue? How do we educate? Or do we merely scream? As we look across the chasm at those "inhuman" people we need to ask ourselves many questions. Only when we are prepared to listen and educate can we go forward. Comment left for Rivermoon: "But how to share this beyond our echo chamber? Most of my friends would agree that a woman owns her own body and those that don't say little but vote for restriction because... life, y'know... or my 401k is more important. I'll be more impressed when a group decides to leaflet church parking lots during services, when sex education covers this in 6th grade, when someone gets up and reads this at the CMA, NRA, GOP convention... leaflet Pence's home church and community. Bring it up at every caucus in Iowa, all 99 counties, especially in King country. I'm waiting for that group to arise." To Jay Wolff: "My only issue with this... are those supporting these laws reading posts like this, educating themselves, thinking... Because... we all live in an echo chamber (some more than others). I'd say go to the churches with pamphlets and videos... because that's where much of the need to stay ignorant is taught." To Nick Engler: "Congress has some incredibly bright people. Unfortunately, they aren't being listened to. It's almost as if opinions are rampant and facts don't matter... just like our citizenry in general." 567 |
