of tornados and butterflies
as the tempest breaks
from the south west
in thunder and rage,
consider the butterfly
on the other side of the world
moving its wings—storm-lit
green—to fan a blade of grass.

now, winds and miles later,
its tiny fractal flutter
drives the rain, topples trees,
and turns the city dark—under
a green-lit sky.
